Bose Wave Music System - Graphite Gray

My wife and I decided to give each other this Bose system for Christmas. We are completely delighted with it, and it was a pleasant surprise to discover that it came with 2 remote controls.

I compared various radio/CD/iPod dock products based on features, price and customer reviews and decided to try new Bose Wave radio/CD with Cambridge Soundworks i765. Originally, I looked at CD 745i, but they had special for i765 so decided to give it a try. I have put new Bose Wave radio/CD next to Cambridge Soundworks i765 and listened to various music, CDs and radio stations. Here is brief summary of winning device by category:

Features: CS i765 - has integrated iPod dock, can play DVDS, can adjust bass, treble, etc. I also do not like the fact that Bose does not have controls on the player, only on remote. If you loose it or it is not working, or are waking up and it slips you are in trouble..

Sound: Bose Wave radio/CD - its sound is clearer, sounds closer to real performance, has less unwanted interference/resonance

CD: Bose - better sounds almost across the board - more natural and crisp sound across musical genres - jazz, pop, classical, perhaps for some hard rock fans, CS could sound better

Radio: Bose - better reception, out of the box and with antennas

iPod: CS i765 - iPod dock integrated and included.
In summary, both of these are solid performers, with Bose having better sound, but Cambridge Soundworks more features and almost half the price.

I have not yet decided which one I will return!

I hope that Bose starts to listen more to customer review and offers integrated iPod dock with some key controls on the Wave radio/CD unit itself - such as play/stop/pause/mute. I also hope that Bose offers products at more competitive pricing - after all there are number of other players now in the market: Cambridge Soundworks, Denon, Polk, Boston Acoustics, Onkyo, etc.

I have not opened the item purchased, it was purchased as a gift; however, I have an earlier version of the Wave Radio that I just Love.

I, frankly, as "working class", never woulda paid full price for a "clock radio", but my corporate brother bought one, and, for reasons other than performance, sold it to me at 1/2 price. I am going back 5 yr. or so here, have the old model CD/radio where the top opens, but having had it as my primary "stereo" the last many years, were I to lose it, I WOULD pay full price for a new one! In fact, I got three of my friends to buy the Bose Wave over the ensuing years and all love the thing too! Mine still works as well as ever, has travelled and moved all over w/ me, showing it's durability. "If I were a rich man, yiddle diddle diddle, etc.", I would buy a dozen and gift all friends and relatives! OK, I enthuse, but it has been a fine purchase and I highly recommend it!

Three years ago I purchased the wave radio. After two years cd player quit working and unit was sent in for repairs. Cost $75.00.(out of warranty) Two years ago I bought a multi-cd changer and it has quit and Bose wants another $75.00 for out of warranty repairs. Save your money.
