I decided not to pony up the extra grand for the WD-65835, and while I can't exactly say what I'm missing, I couldn't imagine it being worth $1000 more. The set looks great out of the box, and after some tweaking, the colors are reasonably accurate, the black levels are acceptable, and the inputs are more than adequate.

On the negative side (these are really nit picks), I can see the rainbow effect, though it's not as bad as previous DLPs I've owned. I don't find it annoying, but it is there. It was a bit tricky to program the discrete input codes into my universal remote (Harmony 880) as the component and composite inputs share the same input setting, leaving the TV to decide which one is really in use (I know, it sounds confusing but you'll know what I mean if/when you get there). The built-in speakers sound awful, but you really should be listening to your movies on some real speakers through an external receiver, so that shouldn't be a consideration when buying this TV. All built-in TV speakers are junk...

Other than that, the TV is great. Plenty of inputs (though I'd like to have had a DVI input for my media center), great picture, and it's CHEAP (by TV standards). I have no problems recommending this TV.

Great TV
Very happy with TV purchase. OneCall did exactly what they said they would do. The TV is brilliant and playing movies or games is like watching and playing for the first time. I see things that I have never seen or noticed before not all b/c of large screen but b/c picture is sharp. TV also picks up HD channels perfectly from the 3 major networks...NBC, CBS and ABC from standard antenna.

Only thing I didn't like was curb side delivery....the shipping company D+L (NOT OneCall) sent my item without allowing me to set up delivery time or day. They are not supposed to send out until you schedule a delivery time and day.

Other than that I am very happy with my purchase.

BUY THIS HDTV!
First, allow me to state that I am a long time Sony user (which is widely considered to make the best in televisions and other electronics). Well, this Mitsubishi HDTV can stand "toe to toe" with the Sony line, and it does it at a much lower price.

This television's High definition picture is awesome, and it's speakers are more than adequate!!! I have DIRECTV which only offers a 1080i signal (this television has an even better 1080p capability), and I am totally amazed with the crisp and clean picture. The picture is great from any angle and close up. You simply have to see it to believe it (especially if you like sports and movies). The cooling fan is extremely quiet too (can't hear it at all).

IMPORTANT - It should be understood that this television is made for a HD signal (720p, 1080i, or 1080p). Due to the overwhelming size of the screen, non HD channels seem blurry, and almost not worth watching. So make sure you spend the extra money for the HD channel packages with your cable or satellite company.

On a side note, this model also comes with an easy set up feature. It's a very nice... you simply plug in your dvd player, satellite receiver, Play Station, Xbox, whatever and it automatically senses it. It will ask you to verify that it is what it thinks it is, and that's it; no special programming or matching remotes. The television is extremely user friendly!

If you plan on watching predominately high definition channels and movies, buy this tv! You won't be disappointed!!!

Magic in my living room
Picture quality is great when you use HD - I have a good up-converter DVD player, and the movies look absolutely stunning. I am one of those backdated guys who is still not subscribed to HD content from my satellite provider and hence watch normal channels. The non-HD content has blurred lines, and poor picture quality, but that should not be counted against this TV as this TV is not designed for clarity while showing non-HD content.

The sound quality is average and muffled, but I route the audio to my home theater system, so I do not use the TV's audio. So no difference for me. May be because I tested the TV's audio AFTER getting used to the room shattering home theater system - and that made it sound poorer.

For connecting computers - I was used to the VGA port on my earlier LCD, so slightly disappointed with no such thing here. If you do not have a laptop with DVI output, there is no easy way to connect it to this TV (there is S Video as an option if your laptop has S Video output, but I never liked the picture quality of S Video). That is why I am going to buy a VGA to Component Transcoder and see how it looks. I will update the review with the results.

It has 4 HDMI inputs, technology to watch 3D movies with special glasses on, easy menu, 2 antenna inputs for your cable and local antenna wire, an excellent manual. I was surprised to find that the power chord does not have the 3rd earthing pin - seemed cheap of Mitsubishi to not provide one with such an elite line of product. Overall, it is a grand sight.
