Exactly 1 month after the 1 year warranty was up, the lid broke. It just stopped moving, as if it came out of the gears. Then shortly after it just quit even trying (even with fresh batteries)--no noise nothing. Something inside just malfunctioned I guess. Paid good money for this but it is NOT WORTH IT. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Besides the lid dying, the design of the interior is horrible, as others have mentioned. When you go to remove the bag full of garbage, sharp tabs on the inside top (that are like a shelf for the lid) cut vertically into the bag in 1-4 places! Trash everywhere! Just dumb--didnt they test this thing before manufacturing it?

Looks nice and I really needed the garage door type lid as it sits under an overhang from the counter (so flip up lids dont work--and we wanted a lid). Sadly this iTouchless can has shattered my dreams.

Also, a somewhat more minor gripe: the lid is too slow to open--put your hand there to throw away some garbage and you have to unnaturally pause for 1 second.
DO NOT BUY!!

This product looks very elegant operates well. Unfortunately, it failed in operation after two months due to a poorly designed gear mechanism. We attempted to purchase a new gear, but were told that our only recourse was a new top - at $45 plus shipping it seemed better to go back to the traditional trash can.

i've had this trash can for 2 weeks now. Battery operated. No problems so far. it's doing what it's supposed to do. I looks very sleek, attention catcher and it matched my kitchen appliances. great addition. functional and sanitizing.

Complete junk.

Lid gets stuck opening and closing. It's not "touchless" if you have to hit the buttons to force open/close.

Unit makes a ridiculous amount of noise when operating. It's LOUD.

Bags rip/tear when removing as they catch on the sharp edges of the can lid. You can try to cover the inner lid with duck tape but it's still a pain to get full bags out.

It's too big for normal sized trash bags. So you have to put something at the bottom of the can to fill the space (otherwise bags just fall down when they are heavy).

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!

I give this product zero stars. Not only does the touchless sensor not work all the time. It almost never works. The cans design makes it VERY difficult to remove garbage in a trash bag. The bag gets hung up and tars when trying to remove.
