Love the Aspire One!
This was a replacement for a 10 pound Dell laptop I've been lugging around the last few years. I chose the 3 cell edition over the 6 cell. I did not like the way the 6 cell battery stuck out of the bottom. I might purchase the 6 cell battery later on as a backup for long flights.

I also researched the Dell Mini 9 and the Asus Eee prior to purchasing. I'm happy with my decision to go with the One instead. Most of the features that are `options' on the Mini 9 are standard on the Aspire One. The only feature I had to sacrifice was the bluetooth but I can use usb bluetooth instead. There is a decent following behind the Aspire One for modifications which is another plus. When my warranty is up I plan to add a touch screen, memory upgrade, internal Bluetooth and 3G card.

This is not a replacement for a desktop PC and I recommend you purchase accordingly. It performs great for web browsing and basic software (that's what it's designed for), but I would not install anything with intense graphics or processor demands. I removed almost all of the preinstalled software as I'm not a fan of McAfee and I uninstalled the Microsoft Office trial. I installed OpenOffice, FireFox, AVG and Quickbooks Pro on mine. I tried out a new DVD burner on it and it did well, although watching a DVD ran the battery down pretty quickly. If you plan to use it for watching DVDs then I would recommend the 6 cell battery.

Overall this is a great buy. Performs great and is super easy to travel with. My 10 pounder hasn't seen light since the day I opened this one.

Very small but functional
Have been using the Aspire for a month now and have really enjoyed the lightweight convenience and quick (non Vista) startup. This is not a good everyday laptop, but if you just want to check emails while away from work, or want to store music on it it is great. I don't recommend getting the black one because it shows fingerprints real bad.

Acer One 120gb Black
I bought the white version with 8gb SSD for my sister. When it came i was very impressed with the built quality and the bright screen. It looked more solid/expensive than the EEEC. The only minor issue was the storage capacity. But i knew that in advance. Anyway, my gf loved it, and wanted to give it to her mother (~45) as a Xmas gift.

I bought the black Acer one from Amazon. I was debating between the 6cells vs. 3 cells battery and decided to get the 3cells because the 6cells battery sticks out on the back of the laptop. My sis is 46 years old and prefers something slick and light (3cells is lighter than 6cells, but not much).

As with the white one, i love it.

PROS: beautiful, solid, 120gb is very plenty for a netbook.

CONS. Non.

NOTES: The black version of the Acer one is a finger prints magnet. Make sure to bring towers and Windex to keep it shiny!!

MORE NOTES: Do your homework before making the purchase. Know the pros and cons of the netbook. Once you know what you're getting, this baby will only exceed your expectation.

For the price? Can't touch it!
This little machine is about the size of a trade paperback. It fits easily into most women's purses, and tucks under my arm with comfort. At two pounds, you hardly notice you have it with you.

Although the size is halfway between my regular notebook and my Iphone, it does everything my notebook does except play DVDs. I haven't used my optical drive in years. Face it, everything is downloaded these days whether it's software or movies.

As a bonus for all you Vista haters, it comes with good-old-actually-works Windows XP.

This machine represents a whole new category of personal computers and costing one third the price of a mid range notebook is the final benefit.

My 17" HP is my desktop replacement. When I go out, I bring the Acer.

I've recommended it to all my friends many of whom have purchased it with similar reactions to mine.

DON'T PAY MORE THAN $350. All the major retailers have it at that price from Costco to Circuit City.

Perfect For Travel
No wonder laptop sales are off. The light weight, small size, "adequate" keyboard, touchpad, screen, and computing power make this the perfect traveler. If you hate reading e-mail or viewing web sites on your phone or blackberry this is the product for you. If you have to have an optical drive, buy an external one with a usb connection.
