Plug and play
Easy to install and allows you to plug your food disposal into an outlet instead of hard-wiring it. Arrives quickly and isn't expensive.

Good kit
I purchased this kit with the InSinkErator SinkTop Switch #STS-00 to save me the time of having to make a cable. It is a complete kit with good quality cable that makes the install a snap. I would buy it again.

Get this cord kit unless hard-wiring your disposer...
InSinkErator Power Cord Kit #CRD-00

InSinkErator disposers don't include this cord in the box because many installations will use a Romex cable hard-wired directly to the disposer. If a power cord was included, those customers would be paying $10 for a cord they didn't need.

If the disposer won't be hard-wired, install this power cord kit in the disposer, and plug the cord into a receptacle inside the sink-base cabinet. If there is no receptacle there, feed the existing Romex cable into a utility box and install one (turn the power off first). Use a receptacle tester (sold by Amazon) to verify proper wiring. The National Electric Code requires the box to be "accessible", versus hidden. If you have the skills to hard-wire a disposer, you have the skills to install a surface-mounted box with a receptacle.

This cord kit will work with any brand/model of disposer.

Flat electric cords like this one don't have color coded hot and neutral wires (usually black and white respectively). Instead, both wires on this cord are black, but the neutral wire's insulation is ribbed for identification; connect it to the white wire from the disposer. Attach the green wire to the ground screw in the disposer's built-in electric "box".

Actually, any flexible three-wire cord could be used, as long as it meets specific rules for insulation thickness, moisture resistance, proper gauge, and cord length (18" to 36"). This cord meets Underwriter's Laboratory and National Electrical Code standards.

I found the two included wire-nuts to be a bit small, and used larger nuts from my stock. One star off for that. Other than that, this cord kit is just fine.

Annoyed this didn't already come with the unit, but has all you need
Per the title, I was annoyed this wasn't already bundled with my compact Evolution garbage disposal unit; but at least it's somewhat reasonably priced, and if you go through Amazon, you can get free super saver shipping. To reiterate, you basically need this item to install your Evolution line disposal.

Overall, I handed this and the disposal unit over to my contractor, and he had it set up in very short order. The disposal, this power cord package and an existing power switch outlet is all you need to get this up and running.
