A Handy Item to Own
Received my steam mop a few days ago, and couldn't wait to try it out. Easy to assemble (only two screws). Watch out for the rolled up cardboard stuck in the bottom of the handle, though!!! Not sure why they put it there, but it was a stupid idea. Mine came with two mop pads (one already on the steam mop). Now for the review:

(1) Initial start-up time is a little longer than I expected, but the second use was much, much faster. You'll know it isn't ready when it makes noises while you squeeze the trigger.

(2) I have a large eat-in kitchen with vinyl flooring. The flooring never had a high gloss finish - even brand new, so dirt is always captured in the texture of it. Always a pain to clean, no matter what I use. The Bissell steam mop did a really good job, though. I cleaned the large kitchen and adjoining utility room with it, and the mop was pretty darned dirty. I grabbed a wet paper towel and scrubbed the floor to see if it was clean, and there was still a little dirt (I live in the country and we have red clay here, so it's not hard to miss it). I cleaned the floor a second time with the steam mop and a clean pad, and it was much better. I had no idea just how dirty the floor was until I used this thing. I might just do it a third time!!!! It looked and felt A LOT better after the first cleaning, though. I could've stopped there and not known there was still red dirt residue on my floor!

(3) Sanitizing the floor, using their recommendation of 15 seconds, probably isn't even necessary. The steam warms the floor up pretty well during normal usage. I mean, WHO actually sanitizes the floor? If you want it THAT clean, I'd use bleach water after steam cleaning, anyway. However, holding the mop on a spot with dried goo, gunk, or a stain is a great idea. That DOES work well.

(4) The ergonomics of the mop are fine. The handle is going to work for almost anyone of average or tall height. YOU DO have to angle the handle down toward the floor a little to avoid the "drag" of the cloth against the floor (which is minimized with more steam). Use it like a vacuum and it's just right. The swivel head works great... can get in or under just about anywhere. And, the cloth mop pad at the edges will help you get into corners and along baseboards (although that's not going to be as effective as doing it by hand).

(5) Water tank can be just a bit tricky to get back on the first time you use it, but once you figure out that the little grooves in the side of the water tank have to slide over the guides, it will be fine. My water tank had a very small leak the first time I used it, but it didn't seem to do that the second time. Maybe the rubber gasket has to get broken in?

I think this item is a definite KEEPER. I'm glad to have it... no more sticky chemical residue on the floor. No waiting forever for the floor to dry. No more dirty mops in the closet. NO dragging around a bucket of yucky water. I'm free.

Just as advertised
The Bissell Steam Mop is just as advertised. It is wonderful and I use it all the time to clean my kitchen ceramic tile floor, as well as entry way and bathroom floors. It is sanitary, uses no cleaners but plain old steam from the water in my kitchen sink (tho I did buy distilled water too). The only weakness that I can see is that there is no Off switch. You must unplug it to make it go off. But this is only a small inconvenience. I love it!

Pretty Good steam cleaner
I've been using this cleaner for a couple of months now. I have about 1000 sq. feet of ceramic tile in the living areas and it takes about 4 - 5 refills of the canister depending on how fast I go, the slower, then the cleaner things get. I wish the cord was 2 -3 feet longer so going from room to room, I wouldn't have to track over wet floor to move the plug. The floor is left fairly wet and takes about 10 min to dry on its own or you could go back around it with a towel if there will be traffic on it. I like that there are no chemicals needed and you just have really hot steam, that said my floor probably needs a good hands and knees scrubbing once a month with some borax and lemon juice or other natural cleaner. MY biggest complaint would be that you have to hold the trigger down in order for the steam to come out and my hand gets tired after just 1/3 of the floor space. It doesn't make sense that they didn't just make the steam trigger an on/off switch, seems like that would make the job easier. At least it is very light weight compared to the Hoover Floormate. I took that one back because it weighed a ton and was exhausting to use.

I love this mop.
I have a hairy dog and a 954 square foot house with wood and marmoleum floors.

This mop is great because:
1. It has cut the time it takes me to clean the floors in half- no walking back and forth to the sink with the mop and it dries way faster than mop water.
2. It's small so it fits in my water heater closet that's already jam-packed.
3. Easy to use! Push a button, steam comes out.
4. No residue ever. Lots of other cleaning products I've used promise they won't leave a residue, but EVERY one of them left residue on my wood floor. Steam doesn't leave anything.

Things to know:
1. I have to Swiffer the floors before mopping because one week of shedded dog hair would fill a 5 gallon bucket. I had to do this anyway, so no big deal.
2. The cord is super short. If my house were bigger, it might be annoying, but for me, it's not a problem.
3. Steam doesn't dry instantly. It takes a couple minutes to dry depending on how much you hold down the steam dispenser. Still, much better than mopping.

Overall, a big fat A+. I highly recommend.

Beats Mopping Any Day!!!
My daughter has asthma so I do not have carpet in any room in my house. Needless to say I have a lot of rooms to mop. The backbreaking job of mopping is NOT my favorite thing to do.

After seeing a commercial for another brand of steam floor cleaner I decided to check into it. I did my research and decided on the Bissel 1867. It got great reviews and was reasonably priced. I received it "lickity-split" from AMAZON.COM (my favorite place to shop for just about anything).

Assembly couldn't be easier. All you do is slip one piece on one end and one piece on the other end, secure the pieces with two screws and you're done.

To use it you put water (preferrably "distilled") in the water tank, slide the tank into its place on the machine, plug it in and you're set to go. To clean the floor you hold the trigger on the handle down as you pull the cloth covered steam head across the floor. It really produces a cloud of steam in SECONDS. But the best part is yet to come.

Unbelievable may seem a little too strong of a word to use but it is the only one that accurately describes the job this machine does. You can literally see the streak of clean floor beside the dirty part of the floor just like they claim. To get something a little tough off the floor you just hold the head over the spot for a few extra seconds and up it comes. The dirty stains on the floor are absorbed into a removable cloth cover that is on the head. It comes with two covers but you'll want to buy extras because they get saturated after a while with the water and stains. Be warned that the water tank is a little small and needs refilling maybe a little more often than I would like and you have use slightly slower strokes so the steam has time to do its job. The cord length was more than adequate. My rooms are small so I was able to reach any area with no problem. You'll still have to do something additional to get the floor edges but no machine will do them.

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Bissel Steam Floor cleaner.
