Served me well in Ike
I bought this generator about two months ago. My son and I installed the wheel kit, figured out the instructions and started it up. So far so good. Yesterday, Ike hit the Houston area. We were without power for 36 hours. I ran 2 refrigerators and a freezer and threw an extension cord over the fence for my neighbor who also ran two refrigerators and a freezer off the unit. It performed flawlessly. I wouldn't trade this generator for anything. It is not extremely quiet but more quiet than other units I heard in the neighborhood. The instructions are not the clearest I have seen and we had a little problem with the wheel kit, but on the whole a solid unit. Buy the wheel kit because the unit is heavy. This is a great unit for the price.

Red Baron
Read all of the views and weighed the pros and cons. Most of the negatives came from damage incurred during shipment. Ordered the Blue Max gen set anyway and it arrived with only minor scuff marks, although the bottom of the box was ready to fall apart. Yes, putting the oil in is somewhat difficult, some have recommended tipping the generator on it's side, I would not do this, too easy to over fill. Knowing you're only going to need a alittle over half a quart, use a flexible funnel and a cheap plastic measuring cup, pour in the oil until it reaches the full mark.
Added oil and gas, generator started up on second pull.
The wheel set is a pain, I took the time to remove the paint from the threads and cleaned the bolt holes. I agree with other reviewers, look at the picture, disregard the narrative instruction. It is actually fairly easy to assemble if you prep the parts first.
So far haven't had to use the gen set, but winter windstorms are coming to the Pacific Northwest and I'm sure we'll be needing it.

Faster than expected
Arrived faster than expected and was sent Federal Express (a good thing). Works good. Somewhat noisy, but expected. Great Price.

Exactly as promised
The Blue Max 4,000 Watt Generator arrived on the day promised by a careful but grumpy UPS guy. I took it out of the box added gas and oil and it started on the first easy pull.

Yes, the direction that came with the wheel kit were worthless but with a few tools, and some help from the kid across the street, it went together easily.

Can't beat the quality for the price...
This was a great deal. I was a little skeptical because it was so cheap, but there is plenty of power and surprisingly quit. I would recommend to get one if it is less than $300.
