Temperature good, weather forecast laughable
Oregon Scientific BAR688HGA Wireless Weather Station with Temperature/Humidity Display and Self- Setting Atomic Clock, White
Well, it's silver, not white but that's okay. We've had it almost a month. The temperature readings, inside and out, are accurate. Pressure reading is close. Weather forecast is laughable. We've had a week of screaming sunshine and dry warm autumn weather. Yet every day, the weather station forecasts rain and shows the word "wet".
It would have been very helpful if Oregon Scientific had added a backlight option. Though the numbers are large, it is difficult to read. If you pick up the device to get a closer look, it blanks out. We keep a flashlight nearby.

Just what we wanted!
We recently purchased this weather station to replace one that had finally stopped working. Being able to see the outside temperature and humidity is a nice addition to the previous one as well as having an "atomic" clock built in. My only regret is that we were unaware that there is apparently a more sophisticated model that will also allow a remote rain gauge to be added. Other than that this is a big improvement over the older one. Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

A really nice thing
I got this so I could see the temp and humidity inside and out. The weather forecaster was a plus.
Pros:
- Accurate weather forecasting.
- It seems this unit shows accurate temperature and humidity.
- Atomic clock.
- Temp and humidity memory.
- Has a nice alarm that really wakes me up.
- Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature formats.
Cons:
- Can't find 24 hour format.
On the manual it said "Hour format 12/24" so I thought this unit has 24 hour format however I can not seem to find it. Or it just means some other thing and who knows. If anybody know anything about this, please comment.
Overall this is a wonderful product.

returned
Base Unit would not work. Also be aware of "no rechargable batteries" and you will need a micro screwdriver to put toghter. Friday, September 26th, 2008

Poor forecasting
I use this product for preparing for outdoor exercising and also for recording the weather in my log. Its sensor gives accurate readings for temperature and humidity. It also has forecasting capability, which, according to OS customer rep, is about 75% accurate. Personally, I've experienced a 60% accuracy rate with some ridiculous forecasts. One Saturday in August, it was raining rather heavily but the weather station showed just clouds no rain drops. Yes, it will show rain drops when it senses rain. There were several other isolated instances when it showed the rain drops but it was sunny and dry. I guess that when the humidity reaches a certain level that will trigger the rain drops regardless if the sun is shinning. It also provides a heat index reading which advises you to take it easy when planning activities. Various arrow indicators inform you of climatic changes that are either increasing, decreasing, or remaining constant. The atomic clock works very well but I've seen some concerns about it from other buyers. The weather illustrations are a nice touch as one, depending on the forecast, will see clouds/sun, sun, or all clouds. Maybe I will even see snow flakes when the winter arrives in a few more months. For my purposes, it is a sound purchase as I enjoy tracking my daily exercise performances under different weather conditions during the year. In addition the date and time is also easily readable if you're doing clerical chores. If you're interested in it for forecasting information, well, forget about it, especially when it shows no rain when it's actually raining quite heavily! Monday, September 22nd, 2008
