OPPO DV-980H 1080p Up-Converting Universal DVD Player with HDMI and 7.1CH Audio

Really high quality player - DVDs look great on my 720p screen. Haven't noticed any skips or pauses - seems to have good error correction, unlike the Philips upconverting piece of junk I got rid of.

It is a very good DVD player; however the upconverting is not exactly what you expect UNLESS you have HDMI. For component connectivity you do NOT get the upconverting benefits. You might as well have something less expensive OR you must have HDMI connectivity.

This DVD player was recommended by a sound-system-knowledgable friend and we now see and hear why! Images look more crisp, music sounds more clear. We are very pleased with this purchase.

This is my first DVD player so I have no comparision, but the picture quality is good to me and it's very easy to use. Moreover, their customer service is very good. My original order from Amazon came with a defected optical unit made by Sanyo and it failed to read any disc after one month of usage. The customer service immediately fixed it and shipped it back to me in two days. After that we watched a lot of DVDs to test the repair, and it has been very good so far.

So far so good! Very sleek compact model, 1080p upscaling, easy to configure for multi-region dvds AND both NTSC or PAL output. And for a great price. Does exactly what I wanted it to do.
