Olympus VN-4100PC Digital Voice Recorder

We purchased the Olympus VN-4100PC Digital voice recorder after much research on the working ability of the product and finding the lowest price at Amazon.com for my daughter as an early Christmas present for college.
She has found this item to be very useful in her lecture classes where she can record them from almost anywhere in the lecture hall and bring them back, download them into the computer and print them out for study notes. According to her this is a grade saving tool which allows her to capture everything being discussed. Since the purchase this recorder has allowed her to get higher grades with little or not much effort because she does not miss a thing. She in in the Radioligic Technology field so you can imagine some of the technical discussion that takes place when she is trying to learn how the human body functions. She did mention that this recorder should not be used on the Extended Play mode if you want to get the best recording or on the Highest mode if there is someone tapping their pencil on the desk as it will pick that up also but would recommend this to anyone who is college bound.

This product is excellent and serves its purpose. It had caught an attention of many friends to own one for various reasons. I really recommend it to anyone who is looking for a real usable recording device,especially writers, teachers, students and journalists.

I have had a bad experience with this product. Well, first of all, it's not Mac OS compatible, so I was not able to use it at all. I should've researched it more, so it's my bad. However, I gave it to my boyfriend who has a PC, but I could not find the CD-rom that this item came with, so after several days of trying to find this software online (no chance of finding it on the Olympus website..) we both gave up. His computer wouldn't even see that the device was connected and there was absolutely no way of finding the software to be able to make it work.
It eventually made its way to the trash can.
So, a big fiasco.

I USE MY OLYMPUS VN-4100PC FOR CORRECTION NOTE AS I WALK WITH THE FIRE INSPECTORS THROUGH THE BUILDINGS AT PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY. THIS ALLOWS ME TO GET A START ON THE CORRECTIONS BEFORE THEY ARRIVE IN WRITING. WITH 57 BUILDINGS IT CAN GET OVERWHELMING AND EVERY ADVANTAGE HELPS.

I bought this recorder for my son's Jounalism class. He has not complained and has been using it.
