Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System

over all excellent speakers for the money the 7.1 is nice sounding with a good receiver but id like a little louder speakers, i gave it 4 stars cause the speaker wire they give you is very very undersized i knew buying it that it was going to be under sized so i got some monster cable speaker wire (from amazon for dirt cheep) but for 300 bucks great speaker set up.

I was pleased with the ovewrall quality of the construction and design of this sound system. The sound while not breath taking is one of the best for the price available. Since my NAD stereo system uses Martin Logan s', I prefer to use it for my musical needs. However, in listen to the AV system I have in place it does a more than adequate job of reproductin DVD's and HDTV sound. Can't be beat for the investment. DrK

While this system does not compare to my main HT room system, this entire 7.1 system cost a third of what I spend for my other sub. If this is used with a decent system and is placed in a small to medium size room (less than 2000 cu.ft.) the sound is quite surprising. As with all sub/sat systems, the highs are a little bright but I find myself spending more time in my small HT room than I would have expected. The speaker cables that come with this system are absolute junk, so do yourself a favor and buy decent cables.

I assembled this entire system for less than $2k for my kids when they come to visit but this could work as a main system if $1500-$2000 is your limit, together with room size restrictions as mentioned above. The system consists of a Vizio VX42L HDTV, Oppo DV970HD dvd player, Onkyo TX-SR603S receiver and Dish Network HD receiver (Vip 211)and all the cables from Blue Jeans Cables.

My only complaint regarding these speakers is not the quality or sound but the experience with Vann's. The order took 10 days, they never sent an email confirmation of shipping and no tracking info. The package arrived in great condition, just don't expect much from Vann's.

An amazing deal, they sound great, if a little large in size.. but I think that might be part of the reason they sound so nice, the larger size.

Best deal in America for a 7.1 set of speakers that can handle serious power. Hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V661 7.1-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver Very nice combo, and both great values for the $$.

I took one of the 3 main speakers apart today to see the drivers and how it was put together. I took some pics and tried to upload them to show people what I saw, but after uploading them, Amazon through up a general "we are experiencing technical difficulties" error. I will keep trying to upload the pictures.. hopefully they will be in the user pics soon. They seem to be very well put together, and the speakers look pretty beefy.

On another note, I do not agree with one of the earlier reviews that state these do not sound good with music.. they sound amazing with all kinds of music. Now my receiver has a plethora of functions and adjustments that allow me to fine tune the sound that comes out of them, but the way I have them adjusted, the speakers sound great with music, movies, TV shows, etc..
