Fantastic computer for visual and/or hearing impaired...
Bought one of these for my Dad, 82, who is visually and hearing impaired. He loves this thing. I'm a huge Mac fan anyway because of the reliability and quality of these computers but whats nice for Dad is he's able to enlarge the screen to where he can read now whereas before, he couldn't. The audio is crisp and clear so he has no trouble understanding the audio.

The minimal real estate this takes up is fantastic and while the screen is large, it takes very little room on his desk. This is the third iMac we've bought over the years and I have to say that Apple never ceases to amaze me with their quality and design. Highly recommend this computer.

One comment and this really applies to all computers; be sure to max out the RAM. I do this as a rule of thumb for all computers and we put 4Gb on Dad's computer and it just screams!

This is all you need to know about this iMac
Apple was named in a federal class-action lawsuit that claims the computer maker deceptively marketed its new 20-inch iMac by grossly inflating the capabilities of its monitor. Don't even go there!

A great machine with some minor omissions
I've been using PC's since apps were run from 5-1/4" floppy disks, and have, like most people, gone the MS-DOS to Windows route. I had never used an Apple computer until I unpacked and set up this one. Although the switch from PC to Mac is hardly painless, in my estimation it was worthwhile.

The iMac is beautifully designed, and the all-in-one construction is quite convenient. I had read some reviews that called the "shiny" display into question, but I love it and have no problems with reflections or screen quality. I am still learning about the Mac OS, so much of my fumbling is probably due to lack of familiarity with features and functionality.

This would be a five-star machine, in my opinion, with some minor additions. First, it's odd to include fax functionality without a modem. I believe the modem should be self-contained, or at least included. The Apple modem costs about fifty dollars. Additionally, the fax software itself is very basic, and as far as I can tell does not provide the ability to view an actual fax that you've already sent (you know you sent something, but you can't review the fax itself). I have also found the documentation and "help" to be a bit lacking in depth and detail; a separate manual like the one by David Pogue is highly recommended, especially for Mac newbies.

For those switching from Windows, an application called VMware Fusion can be purchased separately which actually allows you to run a Windows instance on the Mac. I had very low expectations for this interface, but it actually works flawlessly and allows me to continue using some Windows apps that I'm not ready to give up (e.g. Quicken, and Outlook for it's task functionality).

After about 25 years of PC's, I'm a happy Mac user now!

Couldn't Be Happier!!!!
I purchased the Imac 24" 2.8GHZ computer from Amazon around 4 weeks ago. I was somewhat leery ordering a item of this size and price from Amazon, however the overall experience has been nothing short of perfect!! The computer came super fast, the item was brand new, and the computer has worked flawlessly (knock on wood). I have always been a PC user but now I am on the Mac train and ain't getting off!!!

IMac 2.66
I was a Mac owner a long time ago. About 7 years ago I switched to a PC. I thought I'd move on with everyone else. What a mistake.
The best way to describe a current Mac is to say that it's a little better at everything.
I'll never go back to a PC again.
Just love it.
