Nice feel and responsive
I have always liked Logitech mice and have been really happy with the G5, which I purchased as a replacement for another aging mouse at work.

This model comes with a set of small weights that can be placed inside the mouse to "balance" its movement. My initial impression of this feature that it was a gimmick, but after spending some time with the weights, I found that it made a noticeable difference in the mouse's feel during use.

The G5 come with large slick pads underneath, larger than other mice I've used, and which improve its movement. It also features DPI adjustment buttons which have the effect of making the mouse more or less sensitive without having a go into your computer's mouse settings to adjust anything. Another feature that I first thought was gimmicky, but quickly appreciated.

My only complaint--and I took no points off for it--is that the "cracked paint/snake skin" design on the top of the mouse is ugly.

Great Buy
The G5 mouse exceeds all my expectations. The feature I like most is the ability to ajust the feel and control by inserting or removing weights.

Doesn't get much better than this...
First off, my history. I've gone through so many mice, I can't even list them all. My most memorable mice, however, were, a run-of-the-mill Microsoft optical mouse, the Logitech MX510, and then this mouse. Needless to say, the Microsoft optical was horrible. My wrists, after gaming and everyday use, hurt a lot. I decided to upgrade. The MX510 was a dream. It fit my hand perfectly, and I love the feel. Then, a few months, I decided that the MX510 was getting old. Looking around at Razor, the new Microsoft gaming mice, and others, I finally came to the conclusion that this mouse was it. And it is. Why? Simply because it just does it's job, with style.

Let me go into things a little bit deeper. To being with, the grip is great. Yes, it's only for right handed people, but I know Logitech makes ambidextrous mice, so no complaining there. This mouse fits my hand perfectly, and, though I have rather large hands, my fingers fit over the mice comfortable.

The "feet" are smooth and they glide almost effortlessly over my Razor gaming mouse pad. You can move the mouse almost with your mind (almost).

The weight of this mouse is to your liking, and I like it heavy. The personizable weight is a great option and I'm Logitech included it with this mouse.

The scroll wheel is smooth, and though it now squeaks every time I scroll up and down, that's definitely a very minor thing in this otherwise great mouse.

Lastly, the dpi censor. Having a changeable dpi is awesome, but sometimes it's annoying. I would just find myself sometimes clicking the dpi setting by mistake. My only quibble is that, in Vista, the drivers didn't work out so well with me and every time I changed the dpi the mouse would become super-slow. Again, most likely my mistake, and doesn't really degrade how great of a mouse this is.

Overall, I completely and totally recommend this product to anyone who wants a high-quality, top-of-the-line, and pretty much perfect mouse. You won't regret it.

may think twice
I brought the same G5 old version a year ago and it stoped working. So I buy this new mouse to replace the old one. It was pretyt much the same, accurate and smooth. The only reason I give 3 out of 5 star is because of the plastic cover. It is not good for people with sweaty hands, it stinks the mouse and needs regular cleaning. I wonder who designed this NEW mouse which looks worse than the old version. It is a decent deal, only if, you can stand the ugly outlook and the smell of sweat. (Infact, I wouldnt have brought it if I knew this before.)

full of features, fairly reliable, sensitivity is a bit fickle
It's a good mouse, but when opening and using some programs on my PC, it increases the sensitivity automatically even when I don't want it to and don't press the adjusting buttons. This problem is fixed when I adjust the sensitivity control on the mouse, but it's still kind of annoying. Still a decent product.
