Paint Shop Pro Photo 2x
Very disappointed in this software. When I open the software and use it, then close it down I have to reboot my computer to get it to come back up. This is a hassle. I have and use Paint shop pro x and it works great. Would not recommmend this as an upgrade. Monday, December 1st, 2008

Step aside PhotoShop
I have already used six versions of this program and always described it as the "Poor Man's PhotoShop." I conclude that even the rich man needs the useability of this fine program. All my photos eventually get run through PaintShop Pro. Saturday, November 29th, 2008

happy with performance and features
I used photo editing software before, mainly free ware like "gimp" or software that comes with your digital camera. I'm not a power user, I still have to learn how to work with "layers" but so far I've found the basic options, layout and editing tools to be easy to use.
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium Service pack 1. Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz with 3.00 GB of Ram, video chip accelerator and 90 GB free space. For other users running vista; my pc has a rating of 3.4
I read other reviewers said the system does run a bit slow during certain operations, the only time I noticed the software to run a bit slow (average 2 seconds) seconds is when I'm making overall changes, changes such as changing the color of the picture to black and white. (also keep in mind, I'm working with 2816 x 2112 or 2+ mega bite size pictures)
The best things about this product are (price and features) I only paid $34.00 with free shipping. I check a local store ad they are selling this software for $90.00.
I never had adobe photo shop, or adobe elements so I cant make a comparison, but I've read people to have problems with elements 6 and for my personal use photo shop is way to costly to consider.
The one thing I could improve is the instructions, the tutorial "learning center" is good, but I wish it had a "show me" button, but I don't know if this is a common feature either.
Everything considered, I give this a 5 star rating, for value and features, features, features. It will take some time to understand how how everything works, but right out of the box I was able to work with the software and fix a few pictures.

Wasn't Sure About Purchasing At First...
After reading a lot of the reviews, I wasn't too sure about purchasing PSPP X2 at first. I decided to go ahead and take the chance and I AM SO GLAD I DID! I had no problems installing (hint: serial number is on back of CD envelope), and I was busy editing, exploring, etc. in no time. This software is capable of a lot and it will take some time to learn everything, but that's okay. The user guide that is included helps. Be adventurous and look around, experiment, let your imagination go...You won't regret buying. Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

A truly Great Program (with a couple of flaws)...
There is no doubt that Adobe Photoshop has been and will continue to be the ultimate image editing software program available. Photoshop is extremely powerful but unfortunately it is also extremely expensive and very difficult to use for most people. I'm a graphic designer/photographer and have used Photoshop for years and I am very proficient in the program. I tried PSP Photo X2 kind of on a whim just to see how it had evolved over the years. I have to admit that I was very impressed; it is certainly a different program than the old JASC Paint Shop Pro that I had used a long time ago. Photo X2 is very feature rich and has a lot of the power and abilities that are available in Photoshop. The really good thing is that you don't have to go to classes to learn how to utilize its power. Corel has made the interface very user friendly and the step-by-step help available in the both the "Learning Center" (an optional visible palette) and the standard Help menu make it an ideal program for inexperienced users.
I don't use the one step features of the program because I like to have more control over adjustments to my images, but for the novice or hobbiest they seem to work fairly well. I've actually switched to using PSP Photo X2 for some tasks because they have made it much easier, faster and more automated in this program than in Photoshop. There are of course some limitations to it's abilities and power in image editing. But for most people trying to organize and manage their personal photos PSP Photo X2 makes it pretty easy and produces good images.
The biggest problem with Photo X2 is that it is very memory intensive program that will slow your computer down if you don't have a fairly high-end machine with a good graphics card and plenty of RAM. There are some less memory intensive programs available (some even free), but they don't have the features available through Photo X2 either. The Other major problem is that PSP Photo X2 is not Windows Vista Certified which means that the program isn't optimized for Vista and therefore it doesn't run as well as it could and utilize the power of Windows Vista. The newer version (Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate, which I haven't yet tried) is Windows Vista Certified and hopefully will run better in Vista.
I would highly recommend Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 for anyone who can't afford to buy Adobe Photoshop and/or doesn't have the time and patience to fully learn how to use the program. It is certainly capable of producing some great images and with the interface almost encourages the user to be imaginative and try new things.
