Best Picture for the Price
I saw the reviews on CNET and a few magazines on this. After spending days online and in-store checking out Plasmas, LCD HDTVs, I had to make a tough decision as I had never seen this one anywhere I looked. The delivery was fast, and effortless. The Amazon contractors brought it into my home, unpacked it and set it up in our high TV cabinet (aside from hooking it up). It took about a minute to setup and has been great ever since. Regular TV with DirecTV looks great, the PS3 quality is awesome, and using HDTV / BluRay is unbelievable. Viewing Blu Rays on other TVs don't seem like true HD to me, even with expensive Samsungs, Sonys, and other 1080P sets compared to my Philips Eco TV. Every time people have come over and seen the TV, they have been very impressed with the image quality and natural motion of the TV compared to their own HDTVs. The Natural Motion and other software built in, makes you feel like you're behind the scenes, filming the movie yourself. When viewing even 720p content, like an unconverted DVD showcasing a busy city street, you feel like you're walking down the street with them. It's insane! There's supposed to be 4 speakers, but I only see 2. No big deal though, the sound is pretty good regardless. Theirs little fuss to setup this TV, almost everything is automated or self adjusting to the best quality.. and it has energy / dimming features similar to an Apple computer, this TV is just sweet. I am going to buy a second one for my bedroom. Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Phillips 42PFL5603D/27 42-inch 1080 LCD HDTV
Very fast delivery.Delivery men took down the old T.V. and placed it on a cart, that I made available for them. They hooked up the new High Def. television. It worked fine. I then made some additional adjustments to my Comcast High def. box and then the new T.V. It has worked very well and was a very good price for such a quality product. My wife and I have in our bedroom. We are very happy with it and it's fine picture and sound quality. Thanks again, Walt Dolgireff Santa Rosa, Ca. Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Good HD pictures, but....
Philips 42PFL5603D/27 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
This TV displays gorgeous pictures on channels broadcasting HD and very good pictures from digital channels, but the images in standard broadcast mode leave a lot to be desired. And, the slowness of changing from one channel to another is very annoying. The channel information stays on the screen much to long for my taste. The remote control is too small and its number keys are too sensitive. If you do not depress them fast enough you get a string of numbers. Its ability to play jpeg images from a usb flash drive is very disappointing. I labeled 41 images as 001.jpg to 041.jpg and it scrambles those numbers and its slideshow only plays a few of them.
This is my first LCD HDTV. My recommendation before buying any brand is to go to a local store and see if they will let you operate the units they have on display. If I had done this maybe I would have found a brand that operates faster than this Philips 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.

Don't believe the nasayers on this TV...Philips rocks and eagle and ceva too
When I ordered this TV I was reluctant because of the reviews of the shipping company. However, the TV is great. I researched HDTV's for 6 months. I bought my dad the Philips 32"HDTV from WalMart and paid the tax...saved the tax on Amazon for mine(42"Philips HDTV). The shipping company was very helpful and did what they said they would do. Get this TV and don't worry about the shipping. Have a little faith. Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

42" Philips Review
I have had this tv for about a month now and I love it. It has an amazing picture.
Pro's: very high connectivity and great looking pixels. Movies in HD are great, even when upconverted from a DVD. The PixelPlus effects are nice, and it is ovbious when it improves the picture.
Cons: No VGA input--had to buy a vga to hdmi convertor which looks
great still (though my box only supports full screen output the tv in widescreen fills the screen nicely) I've noticed that the Pixelplus business attempts to shade the picture which makes it look colored very wrong at times, but only when using a computer input of 800x600(very low) higher resolutions do not do this, and never on any other input.
I absolutely love this tv. The cons outragously outweigh the amazing picture qaulity i get from this tv. Sports look great, video games look great. much better than my friends sony bravia (tho his is 720P this mine is 1080P) I was suprised how hard it was to find it in a store, and reviews are few and far between currently. final note: be prepared for a tv to ship very slowly...
