Pyrex Storage 18-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids

I recently decided to replace my over-abundant collection of plastic food storage containers with a more reasonable set of pyrex containers. I've found that this set replaces a lot of old container sizes, so I can get by with fewer bowls and lids. I plan to purchase a set of square pyrex containers when Amazon has them on sale. With few exceptions, I should then be well covered in the food storage arena.

These are perfect sizes. The only reason I put them as a 4 star is that the lids eventually crack and are expensive to replace. Plastic scares me to cook in the microwave. Plus, who knows what the plastic actually absorbs or cooks into our food. I'm slowly replacing my plastic with glass.

These are so much better then having a draw full of odds and ends of plastic containers. They can go in the fridge, freezer, microwave and even the oven. Then just throw them in the dishwasher!! They are so easy! Love them!

I purchased this set to add to my current collection when it was a gold-box deal, because I wanted some larger storage bowls. The two seven cup bowls and lids are so handy, and I certainly use the others as well! I like Pyrex because it is sturdy and lasts much longer than plastic, besides not carrying the risks of chemicals transferring during reheating. The clear bowls make it easy to identify contents and nice enough that you can serve in them. I have caused a couple of lids to bubble and mar when reheating but (my bad) I probably should remove the lids completely and cover with something else. I don't know if replacement lids are available anywhere (?). I've not had the problem with the lids being too tight, and, FWIW, would not want them any looser. I highly recommend this set for a "first" set as it includes a nice variety of very usable sized bowls, and is also a great addition to your current sets, for people like me.

I purchased three sets for Christmas gifts as I liked the ones I purchased for myself so well. They are so much beter than using plastic for leftovers.
