Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

I, like a lot of people that have written reviews for this TV, did quite a bit of research before finally pulling the trigger on this Samsung. One of my main concerns was that I have a 65" Mitsubishi rear projection TV that is only 6 years old and still had a very nice HD picture, and I was worried that dropping down to 52" would make a major difference. It does not. The old TV was a giant box in the middle of the room and I was ready for something sleeker.

All I can say is WOW! When we were watching the old TV, we thought it had a great picture. After setting up the Samsung, we are now seeing what a great picture really looks like. It is amazing what this TV will do with an HD signal. We have a PS3, XBox360, Directv HD all hooked up through HDMI. Watch a movie on StarzHD and it will blow you away.

The colors are rich, the blacks are DEEP and the clarity is beyond words. I happen to really like the 120 Hz motion effect as it seems to make everything stand out just that much more. I'm sure some will disagree, but it is a personal taste.

Purchasing through Amazon was great, as was the delivery. I could not be happier with my decision.

This tv has an excellent picture straight out of the box. I was leery about ordering a tv over the net but my fears were groundless as the tv arrived promptly and was well packaged and secure. I would absolutely recommend this tv and how my order was handled.

I wanted a 52" LCD and did many comparisons. I was able to do a side by side with the Samsung LN52A650 and the Sony Bravia XBR4 52". I had narrowed down my choices to these two before this comparison. The Sony was a little better at displaying blue, and the Samsung displayed green better. This could have been due to the way the store had set them up. Other than that, the quality was identical. The LN52A650 is loaded with features and is hundreds less than the Sony. I almost spent the extra $200 for the LN52A750 to get the built in content, and internal memory. S

Since the TV was delivered, I have been even more impressed with the picture. One note on the delivery and shipping. This item does not qualify for the free shipping even though the ad says it is. This is not white glove delivery. They set where you want, and check to see if it turns on. You will have to hook everything up after they leave. In my case, that was fine, and I received it in about a week.

Great TV, even on the factory settings. XBox 360, PS3, and HDTV look amazing on this TV. After watching BluRay on this TV, I can't go back to DVD again. You can't beat the features and picture quality of this TV, absolutely amazing. I don't use the built-in tuners, but my Comcast Cable box looks amazing on this TV. The red touch of color blends nicely with my mocha cherry stand.

The weather, news, and stock info is a nice touch, but I rarely use it. I actually unplugged the network cable because i used it so little. It takes a couple seconds to turn on, which is a little annoying trying to launch activities with my Harmony remote. If the optical out passed through 5.1 sound from HDMI sources, I would actually use it. With my current configuration, I have no use for it.

I have gotten nothing but compliments on this TV, on both the picture and bezel alike. It has made a great addition to the family room.

Every aspect of this purchase was superb. The ordering process was easy and comfortable. The price was easily the best of those I researched from reputable companies and I did not have to pay state sales tax or shipping and handling costs. Shipping was handled very efficiently and the TV carried directly to the room I asked by two very courteous gentlemen. The TV itself is utterly awesome in every respect. DirecTV only provides a 1080i picture to date but I'm ready for 1080p when they do. The picture is mind blowing, particularly in HD. I haven't found the great visual advantage of 120 Hz yet but certainly will by football season.
