Do the math
You might be comparing these brown paper towels with the 30 rolls of Seventh Generation, white paper towels also sold on Amazon wondering which is cheaper. Note that these are 120 sheets per roll. The white ones are 70 sheets per roll.

White paper towels
$40.99/(30*70) = 1.9 cents per sheet.

Brown paper towels
$54.99/(30*120) = 1.5 cents per sheet.

So the brown ones are cheaper.

Lasts a looooong time
As some of the reviewers mentioned, these last a long time. Besides the environmental concerns, these are the best paper towels I have purchased for one reason - there are a lot per roll. It seems like I was buying paper towels all the time before. These I have kept for quite a while.

Besides that, I find these are good for cleaning glass since they do not have much lent at all compared to the "fluffy" store kind.

Not Absorbent Enough
These paper towels at first sounded like a great idea, but I have found that they are not that absorbent. More paper towels are used for a clean-up job than what would have to be used on a standard Scott's or Bounty towel. When these towels get wet they become very waterlogged and so their capacity to pick up spilled liquids is very limited.
I was initially intriqued by the thought of helping to spare the environment by using recycled paper towels, but the benefit is probably eliminated when more of the towels have to be used for the same job. Perhaps if this company made the towels in a higher ply this concern could be addressed.

Eco & Health Friendly
If you can get these with free shipping, it is well worth buying in bulk. They use no chlorine to bleach the paper towels, so they are both ecological and family-health friendly. Also, I have noticed that the rolls are bigger and the towels thicker than when I buy them individually at Whole Foods. When they offer free shipping, we stock up!

7th Generation Paper Towels
They're durable, made of post-consumer recycled paper fiber and unbleached, everything this consumer sought from a paper towel. The bulk buy dropped the cost to a reasonable per unit price. Not as absorbant as some might prefer and they're not cushy soft. But they do the job just fine to suit me.
