good dvd player
I got this one after our old one bit the dust !(I never liked it). I did a lot of research for specific functions, this one fits the bill the most. Easy buttons, fast forward without the chance of advancing the screen, more than one fast forward speed, subtitle button, my son can operate it without help from me. So far, this is one of the dvd players I ever owned. Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Poor user interface
I would never buy this DVD player again, even if it were only $10. The buttons on this player are very slow to respond. Sometimes I'll press the power button and it doesn't even turn on. I often have to hit a button 2 or 3 times before it works, this goes for all buttons, power, eject, etc. There is a definite lag between button depress and response --- this may not seem like that big of a deal but it really is extremely annoying. This player also will not turn off automatically. I've had previous players that will automatically power down x amount of minutes after a CD or DVD ends, not this one, it stays on, wasting energy until you manually turn it off. (And remember, you may have to hit that off button twice...) Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Works just great
Just close to having this new player for three months and I have been nothing but pleased with it's performance. I watch lots and lots of movies and most of them are rentals. My old player was having a real hard time playing beat up/scratched rental disks. So, the main thing I wanted with a new player was for it to be able to read these badly scratched disks. Mission accomplished. I have not had one solitary problem with any disk I have placed in this player, and I have put some real scratched up disks in it. No problem. If I can get another year or two of playing perfection out of this machine, I will be very pleased. I highly recommend this player. The price is just excellent, also. Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I love this DVD player!
I have a small hdtv in my room upstairs. Normally, I watch DVDs on my laptop since I only watch during the weekends. However, I get tired of loading up the computer just to watch a movie. So I decided to get a cheap dvd player that can play at 480P. I got this model.
There are several good things and bad things about this player. Most of the complaint though, will probably not apply to everyone:
* The player is outstanding. It plays my scratched dvd fairly well.
* It comes with cables only for the sdtv, not hdtv. I had to spend an extra 20 bucks to get the cables for an hdtv. I am not very happy about that.
* No Closed Caption on hdtv. I'm not exactly sure if Closed Captioning is disabled for all HDTV or if this is the fault of my TV not allowing closed captioning on HDTV or if it's the fault of this dvd player. So I won't hold it against the player but instead warn users who wish to get a player for their hdtv. I know I can enable caption when I use the SDTV line, but when I got the HDTV line, I could no longer view close caption and have to rely on subtitles which may or may not be presented on dvds. It's a minor inconvenience, but I guess I just have to turn up the tv and hope people in the house don't get annoyed.
Overall, good dvd player. I will enjoy a lot of great movies upstairs in my room while others in my house hold don't have to worry about me taking up the main tv. Very good, cheap, and easy to use.

I'm Satified
I recently purchased a $29 Magnavox and then tried to play a used copy of Rush in Rio on it. The sound was so horrible I ended up taking it back and trading up for this Sony. It has a lot more audio options than the Magnavox, or should I say, it HAS audio options! lol The sound and picture are phenomenal on my standard TV with stereo sound. I've only had it one day but the reviews here are good and I anticipate it will easily meet my needs. If it plays that Rush DVD it should play anything. Tuesday, May 20th, 2008
