Jack Rocks
If you haven't been introduced to the single createst series character in modern thriller fiction, here's your chance.
Repairman Jack, introduced in Wilson's The Tomb, operates in the Big Apple without a lats name or social security number. Jack fixes things, in a violent way, for folks who can find him and afford his fee. Part vigilante, part private eye, 100% cool.
This short eschews the paranormal elements of Jack's novels, for a straight crime set-piece. By the end, you'll wish it was 300 pages longer.
I can't think of a better way to spend 50 cents.

a Terrific short story
A really good short story, with a new side of jack you havent seen before FEAR!! Could easily have been turned into a novel. A great read, and let's face it, for the price there isn't even the slightest possibility of going wrong! Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

No Good Deed Goes unpunished..
What if the last person you want anything to do with needs your help? What if your life depends on not doing the right thing, but you can't help doing it anyway? These are questions that the ever-popular Repairman Jack faces in this quick, roller-coaster ride of a story. This is a great introduction to the character for those considering one of the Repairman Jack novels, giving enough information about Jack and what he does to clarify it for any reader, and enough story packed around it to keep things lively. Good stuff ... Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

The Only bad THing Was It Was Too Short
The bad thing about the Repairman Jack short stories is that they are too darn short. I'm used to 400 page smorgasbords and the light snacks, while delightful, leave me craving more. I don't know if the short form is the best time for a first time reader, because Jack has a lot of layers that folks prejudiced by typical popular fiction probably wouldn't get. It took a couple novels for me to begin to understand him. Of course I'm not terribly bright so take of that what you will.
In this story one of Jack's worst nightmares comes true. Jack has lived outside the system since his early twenties. And considering his chosen profession that is for the best. Seeing Jack trappped by the authorities was quite a shocker and I was surprised by how well it was handled. Definitely worth the 49 cents. If you like what you see give one of the novels a try. Legacies ot the Tomb are good starting points.

Short, Sweet, and to the Point
This was a wonderful short story that kept me intgued till the end. Jack being arrested is what makes this story worth the read (other than the mercy he shows). Monday, September 12th, 2005
