The Orchard

Lizz Wright has a rich voice and uses it compellingly. The arrangements are tight and the songs very good, albeit not yet at the "great" level. A singer to watch as she expands her repertoire and uses that magnificent voice to its fullest.

i have LiZZ Wright's SALT album and i love it. This current one, The Orchard is more than I bargain for. I love it to bits ... she is in her own space. Brilliant

This is my first Lizz Wright album, and believe me, it won't be my last. I am hoping her previous albums are more jazz influenced, because this album has many flavors, and while I am still new to the album, she is best when she is singing the blues or jazz influenced numbers.

This woman has put out 3 of the best CDs that have been made so far this decade. The Orchard is just brilliant, although, it doesn't compare to Salt (will anything ever?) Lizz' smooth and soothing vocals caress you like a warm comfy blanket on a cold winter's evening. Like my other favorite vocalist, Cassandra Wilson, Lizz could sing the dictionary or the telephone book, record it, and I'd buy it. The music is lovely, the lyrics are smart, the lady is gorgeous - what more could you ask for? My favorite cuts are I Idolize You, Another Angel, When I Fall, Leave Me Standing Alone, and Strange. Can't wait to see what Lizz does next!!
