Kind of average
This is a pleasant enough first single, but it's no different than
a lot of other artists from the "roots rock" genre.
If you think this guy is good, you should check out Edwin McCain.

I like it
I may be a bit biased, but this song and my life at the moment mesh very strongly. David's voice is amazing, very sincere sounding. Makes me sad to have missed the 2008 American Idol season.

David Cook CAN sing the phone book!
He's just an amazing performer with a very recognizable voice and a down to earth manner. If he can pull off this song, he can sing ANYTHING...and he can!

Hometown Boy
Everyone in Kansas City, especially Blue Springs, is proud of the success that David is having. He is a great talent and a good soul. This song shows once again that with a talent like he has any song can sound great. He proved it all season long on American Idol and he proves it once again with this one. I can't wait for his CD to be released. It will be a must have.
Even though I am bias being that David comes from my town, I am glad to see everyone love his music. All of us back home wish him much luck and success in the future.

Days of Our Lives
David Cook's "Time of My Life" is an inspirational pop song. Cook won American Idol, and won his audience's hearts with his simple, powerful voice. His "Time of my life" is a hopeful song about living life in the moment, seizing opportunities. He has the potential to be more original when he strikes out on his own. Hopefully, he won't become an American Idol has-been like Ruben Studdard&Taylor Hicks (whose record labels dropped them) or Clay Aiken, whose recent claim to notoriety isn't his new album, but producing progeny with his producer. "Time of my life" has simple, upbeat hooks. Cook, to his credit, eschews the usual pop music cliches.

"Time of my life" made Cook America's choice. One may question whether or not he's deserving, but he has talent. Talent brought him where he is today. His style is like Chris Daughtry's,but less annoying. He isn't a wannabe Chad Kroeger (thank goodness!) so he's not becoming a Nickelback clone. David Cook is having the time of his life. His song isn't sonic perfection, not particularly original musically speaking, but it's okay. Cook has the potential to go from good to great. When he develops his own style,he may become a talent worth listening (and watching)
