Don't let "9.6 Volt" fool you
I made the mistake of buying a cheap drill that was 12v or 14v, and it would last only 6 months. I just got this 9.6 volt drill to see how DeWalt would do, and I have to say that this drill is at least as powerful as those other drills.

It's very light, and makes a perfect screw gun since it's easy on the arms. It also comes with a second battery, and I find myself with hardly any downtime because of that. The charger is nice, quick, and helps you prevent overcharging your batteries. Have you ever picked up a tool and can tell that it's a quality tool? That's how this tool feels.

definately one of my better ideas!
(check out the pictures i posted up in the picture gallery)

i am currently a trade school student studying electrical installation and let me tell you, this drill is incredible. it allows me to complete my projects for class in FRACTIONS of what they normally took me. which is great because now instead of spending time putting screws in and taking them out i can now spend more time focusing on all the other aspects of the project.

keep in mind I'm not doing a whole lot of heavy duty work. i'm using it to put screws in wood. i haven't tested for anything more than that. so for my purposes at the moment it's more than enough power for me.

Great Lightweight Drill
Battery could last longer when drilling but does just fine when screwing. Much of my work is reaching out on a 25 foot ladder so it's lightweight makes up for it.

An excellent lightweight drill
I bought this drill to replace the 9.6v drill that I had for 10 years and finally died.
This is an excellent drill for light jobs and easy to operate. The batteries don't last a long time but can be recharged in the time that the second battery runs out. The batterys from my first drill are still good and buying this one gives me four batterys. This is an excellent general purpose light duty drill.

Nice light duty home drill/driver
This is the little brother to the - DEWALT DC727KA Heavy Duty 12-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 3/8-Inch Drill/Driver - and probably simply does not have the torque to really need a 3/8-inch chuck.

That said, this is a perfect little drill/driver for general home use - even a novice will not find it intimidating to use. A wide clutch range and good speed control means the driver can be used with perfect control by a careful user, even if inexperienced.

The unit is well balanced - though honestly, the uses for which this unit will shine are not likely to involve repetitive motion stress.

I have given this unit only four stars, due to the battery lifetime I got on another of this range of units, though for occasional use this will not likely be a problem, and the charger is reasonably fast.

Hope this helps.
