SE Battery Tester

I have tried a few testers and I have to say that this model is simple to use and accurate. I can test AAA, AA, C, D batteries as well as watch button batteries and 9 volt batteries. I just keep it in a shoebox with all my batteries. It has paid for itself already, let me explain. My son uses several electronic devices like CD players and remote controls that use batteries. When the power starts failing, he throws out all 4 batteries. I read somewhere that when that happens, it is quite possible that only one or two batteries is failing, so you may be throwing out the other batteries needlessly. Well when i tested batteries he was getting rid of, it turns out to be true. I also found flashlights where one battery was bad and the others were OK. The tester is also the most affordable I have found. Some buyers say that they felt it needed some tension or something to hold the battery, but that is not a problem with me. I would not change a thing.

Again, Amazon... THANKS! Here is a product that costs basically pennies. It was less than $4. I can now check all of my batteries before I even put them in something... if they're weak, toss 'em or if rechargeables, I'll know to juice 'em up. Too many times I've thrown away a toy or something thinking something is wrong with it after trying 3 or 4 different batteries, when it turned out 1 or 2 batteries were dead so the others couldn't pull enough juice to run it. Now, in a second I can pop in a battery, know if it's good or not. FOUR BUCKS?? This thing is like your kids... you can't beat it!

This is a replacement for a different model. I don't like it as well as it is awkward to use. However, for the purpose it is alright. It is as described and fair priced. Would not buy it again though.

I always find batteries just lying around, not knowing if these are still good working batteries or if they need to be recycled. This SE Battery Tester is a lifesaver. All you need to do is put the battery's one end on the tester (negative), and slide the red lever to touch the other end of the battery (positive). It lets you know how much battery life is left, without the guessing. It saves money for not having to recycle still working batteries.

I really enjoyed this tester and truly miss it now that mine is broke. The red handle slides back and forth every time you test a battery and inside there is a little wire soldered from someone over in China and with time it will break every time. Mine actually lasted about two years. You may be saying that isn't bad for a $5 item but my thought is this is basically land fill material now and that cost us SOO much more. That is a bill someday whether it is our children or their children, we can't pay back and it will be irreversible at that time. I tried soldering the wire back but that didn't work. I think the entire thing is brittle. I think I'm going to try replacing the entire wire and see if that works but I'd recommend trying to find one maybe without this design flaw. The clamp ones seem a little better designed.
