Best Hot Wheels purchase so far.
After several Hot Wheels purchases with my older son - I swore never to buy any Hot Wheels race tracks or cities or etc. again. Well, it worked for about 8 years - then this one wanted the trick tracks. So for CHristmas, he got them as a gift - for a total of 5 different stunts. They were really easy to set up - directions are easy to follow, and once you go through everything once, you see how one stunt causes another. Witht the 5 stunts, we had to use 13 different cars - my 5 year old loved this! He was able to set everything up himself after the first time. We have the Drop tower, the 360 loop, the flame launch, the tower claw, and the see-saw (?). Anyway, he can set them up in all different ways and still make everything go. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get everything to go just right - but that is a great learning thing about cause and effect. We had to figure out just how to close the claw so that the car would fall - but once you figure it out, it's no problem. This toy is well constructed and - dare I say it - durable. And yes Durable and Hot Wheels actually go together with this race set. This is not an everyday play toy - we take the track apart and store it in a large container, so that the pieces are quick and easy to construct. The opportunity to add on to the track will be fun. Oh - we set the track up in our living room, which is carpeted and not a big area. It worked perfect. The great thing about the tracks are that you don't have to lay everything out in one long line - they can bend and turn after every stunt, and still work great. Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Fun
My son has this set and it take a while to build but he seems to like it. He seems to play with the cars on the floor more then the track its self. Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

not that fun
While the toy doesn't need batteries, and my 8 year old was able to put it together by himself - both significant pluses - it just wasn't that much fun. THe crane does not reliably drop the car in the right place, and you have to treat each stunt as a separate 3-section race.
For reliability and sturdiness, as well as fun...spend th emoney and buy Dardo!

Christmas morning dud
I bought this because of all the good reviews on Amazon. My son was asking for a Hot Wheels set and specifically one with stunts. I assembled this and the first time I got it to work. After that, the crane would lift the car but not drop it. My son looked at it and said, quite nicely, "You can play with that!" and he went back to the action figures he received.
I imagine at some point my son will combine this set with his other hot wheels tracks for some inspired play. The non-funcioning 'grabber' was a bit of a let down, though. Definitely this year's 'dud gift'. I'm giving it three stars because in all honesty, the first time it worked it made me laugh! Given the current state of the world, anything that's good for one laugh is worth three stars!

Great set, but find the right price!
We bought this set for our son's 5th birthday. He loves it! He has a little trouble getting everything set up right on his own, but he loves to try and can at least get parts of it working on his own. He is wanting more trick tracks and cars now for Christmas to go with this set. I would not pay [...] for it! It is not worth that much!. We spent between [...] and [...] at our local Wal-Mart.
