Not well built, but SUPER FUN!!!
Despite the reviews, I bought this for my 5 yr. old daughter for Christmas. I got the mega set with 8 additional cars. She absolutely loves it!!!
Worth mentioning, is that her 7 yr. old brother and 4 yr. old sister do too. True, it is not extrememly well built, but it was easy to assemble and works even without the few track supports which fall off. Well worth the $32 I spent for it.

Save Your Money
I wish I would have taken to heart the reviewers who said it wasn't worth the money...it is a flimsy product--the track won't stay together. The "start" button got stuck and would no longer launch the cars which meant the cars couldn't ride through the loop. Also, the elevator stopped working properly as well.

My 5 year old son loved the toy...my 3-1/2 year old daughter not so much (because it kept falling apart).

I'm mad that I wasted my money and will have to go through the hassle of sending it back!

Getting Returned
This is the worst Christmas gift my kids have ever gotten. It is so flimsy it will not stay together. Unless it is on a perfectly flat surface the cars will not run the track. It is the first fully assembled (about 30 minutes to do) gift that we will take the time to return. Piece of junk!

Daughters Love it, Quality is quesitonable
Purchased this for Christmas 2008. Put it together Christmas Eve. Pretty easy set up as I have had a lot of practice with my own race tracks. (I am the father writing the review). We were lucky and got the mega pack which has 8 more cars, girls, bags, etc... My daughters loved it. They played with it intermittently throughout the day and are playing with it as I write the review. Like the other reviews, it does not stay together very well if bumped, stepped on, moved, jostled, breathed upon, looked at or even though of. Some parts stick inside the said designated area quite nicely and others fall out constantly. Glue would not be a bad idea as mentioned by another reviewer. I purchased this knowing the issues with quality. I bought it for the mini Polly's and the real metal race cars which are like matchbox cars. They are heavy and push smoothly. The toy works as designated. Turn on the escalator, hit the switch and watch the cars go round and round for hours of non-stop fun. My daughters are all still blond. They may grow out of it. They had all 10 cars running the track at one time and laughing. It has some fun options such as the shopping bag loader and the, if removed from the track, weapon like launching device. Fathers, you could definitely find something useful for this once the girls grow out of it. If it were not for the quality of the toy, I would have given it a 5 star rating. The quality does leave something to be desired. The joints do need to be reinforced. Once you reinforce the thing it is a beast and is fun. If this is planned for a play room that has sound deadening walls, by all means purchase it and let the kids go at it. If not, the escalator is a bit noisy and makes it hard to watch TV and have the track running at the same time. I would buy this again as my daughters all love it. To gage ages and what not - 6, 5, 4 and 18 months, all very princess oriented, like to dress up etc... My 18 month old loves to play Godzilla with and laugh hysterically when it falls down. The others are patient and have had a little trouble putting it back together. One piece did cut my 6 year old as it does not go together too easily and there are sharp plastic corners. Yes I said sharp plastic corners. Maybe we are a little sissy in this house... Sissy girls, fun cars, tiny Polly's what more fun can we have. Overall my daughters enjoy it.

Not as bad as others would lead you to believe
Yes, it's flimsy. Yes, it may fall apart after much use. Yes, the tiny parts continually filter through the house only to possibly disappear and only later be extracted through a painful encounter with your bare foot or the vacuum. But, my girls LOVE this set. They have the Polly jet, Polly fashion setup, and about a gazillion Polly parts and pieces (much to my chagrin), but my 7 and 10 year old got this early for Christmas this year and have played non-stop with it for 2 days. Now I realize the novelty will soon wear off, but they've already gotten more use out of it that they do most of their other toys.

Yes, it's a little frustrating to put together - my wife, my teenage son and I all spent about 30 minutes to get it assembled. You have to be careful how you snap the pieces together so you don't accidentally break the pieces. Somehow, when I was a kid, Hot Wheels didn't seem so fragile and in my memory seemed like they could be put together by a kid. So, as long as you don't expect the kids to put the track together (or at least correctly or without breaking pieces, depending on the kids age and patience threshold), and you have it set up on a solid surface - I'd recommend a hard floor, not carpet - the flexibility in the carpet pad tends to allow everything to flex, thus accelerating how fast the pieces come apart, I think your kids will have fun with this set.
