Password Journal passes barely
I guess its fun to have to have a password to get into your journal, but you have to use the same inflection, and make sure the word is said just right otherwise you have to reset ALL of it including date and time which takes a little time, and what kid has that time???? ha! It's fun but I can see it getting old quickly.

Difficult to use
I purchased two of these Journals for my 10 and 11 year old girls. We found out that the voice activated password is not too good. My girls are often yelling the password into the microphone trying to get it to open. Also, the hinges are not too good. One of the journels was delivered with the hinge disconnected. I was able to bend the cover back into place but it often pops off when you try to close the journel. I was going to return it but then the same thing started to happen to the other journel. I figure it is a design deffect.

Fun but almost impossible to open!
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter, and she LOVED it when she got it, but it took us almost an hour to set the password. You must have complete silence and speak extremely slowly for it to set.
Also, the marker that comes with it is supposed to write in invisible ink and show up when the light that is included inside is shining on it, doesn't work.
Overall, not a great bargain.

Neat toy for a young girl
We got this for our 5 year old daughter for Christmas. This was without a doubt her favorite toy that she received. She has a six year old brother and the idea of keeping him out of her journal is very important to her.

Setting up the journal password is a bit difficult. The key seems to be to "whisper" the password. If you speak loudly the system seems to not understand or get overloaded, I am not sure.

But, the "whispering" of the password seems to add to the enjoyment of the experience for my daughter. She feels like she is keeping a secret.

I would say one time out of three the book will not let her in when she says the password, but even then it is simply fun and makes her laugh, "intruder alert."

So, to those of you who bought this, try to whipser the password, see if you have success. Those of you considering it, know that it is great fun, and well worth the price.

Password Journal
My 9 year old daughter begged me to get this toy for her for Christmas. Since she's had it, I haven't seen her use it that much. I am very disappointed with this toy. However, I did find it cheaper on amazon than anywhere else including the shipping and handling charges.
