Good Birthday gift for a 6 year old!
My grandson really liked this toy. It is really fun to watch the cars around the track, they jump and crash into eachother!

Best Toy for Christmas 2008
The product was a hit with my 3 boys ages 7, 5, & 2. They all have their own cars and has provided many hours of laughter and fun.

The track took some time to put together, but once together is solid. The product was designed well, and am impressed with the toy. My only wish was that the sounds out of the car would let you know when the car is fully "shaken" and that the cars would run longer.

Disappointed
This toy would be really cool if it actually worked as described. The cars look nice and have a nice weighty feel to them but something in the electronics inside is flawed. One car came more or less DOA and the second car followed. For the price I wouldve expected much more. Basically you shake the car to 'charge' it, then you put it down and it goes. If it crashes, it stops. Unfortunately, very frequently when shaking it, it just wouldn't charge or rev its engine (which is the action it does as it charges). Then when you put it down to go, at the slightest bump it stops moving. Given that they are supposed to crash into each other, you never quite make it far enough for that to happen. If it just touches the side of the track, they stop moving.

I intend to take it up with Fisher-Price because these seem to be defective or somehow poorly manufactured.

Too bad because it could be a lot of fun if the cars actually went on the track and drove far enough to crash into each other.

Also, give yourself 90 minutes to assemble the track. They did a good job with numbering each piece but you need to screw some pieces together and attach 20 or so stickers.

Fun toy - when the track stays together
We bought this toy for our two boys, age 4 and 5, for Christmas last year. The initial setup was challenging, but we've come to expect some work setting up new toys so we weren't too put off. The boys really loved playing with the track all day on Christmas! But it falls apart constantly - the pieces never seem to snap together tightly enough. So after several weeks of constantly having to snap it back together for them, I got frustrated and put it in storage. We took it out again this weekend and I was reminded of how ANNOYING it is. Takes forever to get it together (even though I have done it a number of times) and then it unsnaps regularly. When the track is together and the batteries in the cars are not dying (expect to replace them often) it's a really great toy. There are probably better choices out there.

Fun for All
We gave this to our 2yr old son for his B'day. He absolutely loves it. While he hasn't yet mastered the pull back and let go action of some cars, he totally gets the shake and go technique. We thought we'd have to help him play this until he matured a little, but he's completely fine on his own. My husband, assisted by 8yr old niece, put this toy together easily. Once the action started, all the cousins (3-8) were screaming and jumping with delight. This toy was a big hit!
