We ride together now!
This product is priced relatively low and it arrived very quickly. It was obviously made in China. After I made some adjustments to the wheel and chain guard(shipping damage?), this product has performed very well. Great for kids to learn riding, rules of the road, etc., while they keep up! I recommend this product to parents with kids aged 3 to 5.

Returning SECOND one... wheel keeps locking
We are very disappointed with this product. We purchased our first one for our daughter and on our first ride, the wheel kept locking up and we skidded to a stop. Got it to unlock, and continued locking several more times. Took it back to Dicks (where we bought it) and they exchanged for another one (same model), and the second one is doing the same thing. We are now returning the SECOND one and will purchase a different brand. We called Instep, and they were NOT helpful at all as to how we can fix the wheel locking problem. We also took the second trailer to a bike shop today after trying it out today and kept locking... they tried fixing it and looked at it without success. Would not recommend this brand at all.... our daughter is so sad that we couldn't complete our ride she was so excited for!!!

Excellent product for the price!
We were very pleased with the quality of this product for the price compared to others that were asking twice as much or more. Our daughter is 4 and she loves it. We were amazed in how quickly she got used to riding on it. She is learning to balance very well. We are always using our bikes and because it folds down so easily it doesn't take up much room in the garage or you can take it with you anywhere you go. It also disconnects from the hitch real easy. Can't say enough about this product as we are just really enjoying it. Great exercise for the whole family!!

OK if you get one that works! 2/3 have not for us.
Our first one, the pedals/chain were defective and the pedals did not "drive" they chain, it just freewheeled backwards or forward. Sent back, got replacement. Replacement has been fine, we use it often.

With our growing family, we ordered a second one. This is also defective! The mount and bike-mounting holder do not fit together, it is impossible to take the CoPilot on and off, apparently a welding error or something. So we have to send this back to. Telephone customer service was helping only by saying, "We can't help you with defective parts. Return to Amazon."

So, one CoPilot has worked fine for 2 years for us, but 2 others have come and gone on the first day due to major, inoperable defects.

Great concept, but I got suckered
POSITIVES: Once we got the bike trailer hooked up, it works fine - it's nice not having to worry about where your child is on their own bike - they are attached to you, and cannot run out into traffic unless you do. You are able to take your kids with you, and save on gas. We ride everywhere we can. I have 6 children, and the youngest was the only one who couldn't go long distances before I got this bike. Now, she goes right along with us, pulls her own weight. She was too big for a trailer, but too small to ride on her own - this is the perfect medium.

NEGATIVES: Keep in mind that when the child riding it moves side to side, you will weave back and forth. I can be riding in a straight line one minute, and the next, I almost hit a parked car because my daughter turned around to see the dog we just passed, and she leaned one way or the other... Usually it's just a slight weave from side to side though.

If I am coasting, and my daughter pedals too fast, she can actually push me along...not a bad thing unless you have another bicycle right in front of you, and you aren't expecting the sudden push.

Once you get used to the weaving, it's OK, it just takes some getting used to.

REAL BAD NEGATIVES: Amazon sent me a sub-standard product. What I received was missing pedals. I was anxious to use the co-pilot, and didn't want to wait yet again for a shipment to replace the entire product so I would have pedals, so after some frustrations with customer service, I finally was offered a credit so I could go buy pedals. Little did I know at the time that the seat adjustment screw was also missing, which didn't end up mattering because the seat had to be pounded into place with a hammer, which messed up the bar so the seat didn't fit right. So, I had to pound that back out so I could get the seat on. Now, the seat will not adjust up or down. Then, when I went to attach it to my bike, I discovered one of the nuts that is finger tightened was chewed up, and had sharp edges.

I bet it was shipped out before, and someone else used it. So I am stuck with a piece of junk looking co-pilot that has pedals that don't match, the seat won't adjust, and I have to be careful not to cut myself when I disconnect it off my bike. I would suggest buying this product somewhere else, other than through Amazon.
